SBI Partners with NCC to offer Summer Courses for High School Students
Summer Courses Will Offer Guidance on Sports Careers including Marketing, Social Media, Tech and PR
Sports Business Institute (SBI), an organization of accomplished leaders working with students and aspiring professionals, announced today it will be holding two separate week-long summer enrichment programs for high school students and recent high school graduates interested in a career in sports at the Norwalk Community College campus in Norwalk, CT.
The two week-long programs were designed to allow students in grades 9-12 and recent graduates an opportunity to gain insight into how to evaluate a career path in the fast-paced, high-profile $800+ industry. The two seminars planned, produced and managed by SBI will be held at Norwalk Community College starting on July 11 and July 18. Week one is a five-day Business of Sports seminar that will run from Monday, July 11 thru Friday, July 15. Students will receive instruction and hear firsthand accounts of what it takes to succeed and attain a satisfying experience in Sports Communication, Public Relations and Marketing. From sharpening their sports knowledge and developing their writing and communication skills, registered students will get a comprehensive overview of a fast-growing $800+ billion industry.
Week two is a five-day Business of Sports classroom experience that runs from Monday, July 18 thru Friday, July 22. This program aims to provide students in grades 9-12 and recent graduates with an understanding of Emerging Technologies, Analytics and the burgeoning E-Sports industry. As the sports industry evolves and adapts and new technologies are incorporated, it’s essential for young people to gain a solid understanding of the expanding roles of streaming services, enhanced marketing and performance analytics.

Participants will also have time to network with professionals and industry leaders, establishing early network-building relationships that will be an indispensable asset to them throughout their respective journeys.
“All of us at The Sports Business Institute recognize that pursuing a career in sports is the dream of so many young people. These week-long courses will arm high school students and recent graduates with an outline and a game plan for what it takes to gain access to working in an off-the-field capacity in sports,” said Dave Torromeo, Executive Director of SBI.

An All-Star team of sports industry professionals will serve as instructors/speakers during the conferences. Plans also call for a daytime visit to a local area sports venue to see firsthand the application of sports business strategies.
