2 Injured, Family Displaced In Norwich House Fire
Firefighters battled the second-alarm blaze in frigid conditions Thursday night.
NORWICH, CT — Two people were hospitalized following a fire in Norwich on Thursday night, according to Norwich Firefighters Local 892.
Firefighters responded at 8:57 p.m. to a home on Sunnyside Avenue on a report of a fire. Neighbors said they could see the fire at the back of the house through the woods.
Firefighters were able to knock down much of the blaze, but a nearby hydrant was frozen so a 500-gallon water tank had to be used. A hose line was then used at the rear of the home so firefighters could knock down the fire on the porch, according to fire officials.
