Attempted Murder Charge For Registered Sex Offender: Norwich PD

The suspect was arrested on a warrant last week.

NORWICH, CT — A 38-year-old Taftville man was arrested on a warrant by Norwich police last week on attempted murder and first-degree arson charges after he allegedly tried to start a fire at a residence on Central Avenue on Jan. 24, according Norwich police.

Arrested was Tyree L. Davis, who was also charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and first-degree criminal mischief, wrote Norwich police on the department's Facebook page.

Davis, who is also a registered sex offender, was developed as a suspect in the arson within a day of the crime.

"No civilian injuries were reported but a [Norwich Fire Department] firefighter sustained a shoulder injury," wrote police. "Further information will be released at a later date as the arrest warrant is sealed and the investigation is on-going with further arrests anticipated."

The case is being investigated by the Norwich Fire Marshal's Office, Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit K-9 Team, and the Norwich Police Department Fire Investigators and Detectives.

Davis was held on a $1 million bond and is due again in Norwich Superior Court at a later date.
