Residents were evacuated after a brush fire spread to a residential building in Norwich early Saturday morning.

NORWICH, CT — A brush fire spread to a residential building in Norwich over the weekend, according to police.
The Norwich Communications Center received calls at 1:02 a.m. Saturday reporting a structure fire at 90 North St. Building #5.
Officers arrived and found "what appeared to be a brush fire that had begun to transition to the physical structure itself."

Smoke filled the hallways, and police and firefighters began evacuating residents to safety.
No injuries were reported.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, which caused minimal damage to the building's exterior.
The cause of the fire is not known.
