• Norwich Man Killed After Car Crashes Into Trees, Catches Fire In Voluntown (patch.com) — Norwich residents are mourning after 54-year-old James Orowson Jr. of Cliff Street died when his car left Route 138 in Voluntown, hit several trees and caught fire Sunday evening. An off-duty firefighter pulled him from the burning vehicle, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, and state police are asking anyone with information to contact investigators. 
• Greeneville Dam restoration is 'like working in a museum' (theday.com) — Norwich Public Utilities crews are in the middle of their annual maintenance on the historic Greeneville Dam, a key hydropower source that helps lower local energy costs. Workers are replacing worn boards and flashboards on the 1882 wood-and-rock structure along the Shetucket River, carefully preserving original underwater timbers while keeping the dam safe, efficient, and ready for heavy-rain seasons.
