Gun Investigation Leads To Lockdown At Norwich School
Authorities looked into whether a student had brought a gun to school Monday.

NORWICH, CT — A report of a student possibly bringing a gun to Kelly STEAM School in Norwich Monday prompted a police investigation, but no weapon was found, Norwich Public School officials stated on the district's website.
Upon receiving the report, officials immediately "activated [district] safety procedures starting with placing the school on lock down" and contacting Norwich police.
"We take any report seriously and the heavy police presence reflected that," wrote district officials in a statement. "The building and surrounding grounds were searched. There was no gun found and all students were and remain safe."

Norwich police officers remained at the school Monday and will be there Tuesday, according to officials.
"It is important to remember that if you see or hear of any potential threat, that you notify the police and school immediately."
