New London Man Charged with Distributing Crack in Norwich Sentenced in Court
Court officials said a New London man has been sentenced to five years in prison for distributing crack cocaine and other charges.

NEW LONDON, CT - Court officials said Wednesday that a New London man has been sentenced to 5 years (60 months) in prison for distributing crack cocaine. He will also serve four years of supervised release, according to a release.
Police said Harry Stewart, 34, was among a network of dealers who distributed cocaine and heroin for Sydney Jackson, also known as “Fatz,” of New York. The drugs were distributed by dealers in New London, Groton, Norwich, Stonington and the surrounding area, police said. (To sign up for Norwich breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
Officers said they conducted several controlled purchases of crack and heroin from Stewart over the course of their investigations.

The suspect has been detained since his arrest on December 9, 2015, after he was found in possession of crack and heroin packaged for sale. He pleaded guilty in November 2016 to conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute 28 grams or more of crack.
Stewart was ordered to forfeit $3,506 in cash that was seized from him during the investigation as part of his sentence.

On November 24, 2015, a federal grand jury in Hartford returned a 35-count superseding indictment charging Stewart, Jackson and 11 other suspects with various narcotics trafficking and firearm offenses. Approximately 20 individuals were also prosecuted on related state charges, court officials said.
Police said 11 state search warrants were executed during the course of the investigation. Investigators seized approximately 1.3 kilograms of cocaine, one kilogram of crack cocaine, 416 grams of heroin, five firearms and $53,500 in cash during this time, police said.
