Norwich Budget Cuts Force Changes for Human Services
Many helpful services and long-time personnel will be cut due to the current budget.

NORWICH, CT- Budget cuts have forced Norwich Human Services to make big changes, including cutting back on personnel and services offered, The Day reported.
The cuts, made June 6 by the city council, have forced a reduction of caseworkers handling adult and family services cases, according to The Day. A move from the organization’s long-time home in the Otis Library to City Hall may also soon be necessary.
Fuel assistance for residents facing utility shutoff or empty oil tanks will no longer be offered by Norwich Human Services, as reported by The Day. A service that has led the region in placing people in shelters to so-called “rapid rehousing” into permanent homes as soon as possible, called homeless intake assessments, have also already ceased.
