Norwich Man Arrested on DUI Charges After Vehicle Spins Out

Ledyard police said they arrested a Norwich man after his vehicle spun out and crossed into the wrong lane of the road.

LEDYARD, CT - Police said they arrested a Norwich man over the weekend after his vehicle spun out and crossed into the wrong lane of the road. The incident occurred Saturday morning in Ledyard, police said.

Officers said they observed a vehicle spin out in the center of the westbound travel lanes of Route 2, then cross over the double yellow center line. The vehicle nearly collided with the cement barriers on the shoulder of the eastbound travel lanes, police said.

Police said officers were able to get behind the vehicle and stop the vehicle. The driver was identified as Byron T. Gomez-Rodriguez, 30, of Norwich. (To sign up for Norwich breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Officers determined Gomez-Rodriguez was operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs after conducting a field sobriety test, police said. The suspect was and released on $500 non-surety bond, and is scheduled to appear in court May 18.
