Norwich Man Gets 5 Years In Prison For Drugs, Gun Conviction
A fugitive arrested in Norwich was sentenced to five years in federal prison for possessing gun and drugs.
NORWICH, CT—Lewis Corwise, 29, of Norwich and New York City, was sentenced to serve 60 months in federal prison Monday. Prosecutors said Corwise illegally possessed a gun while running drugs.
According to court documents and statements made in court, on April 5, 2018, Norwich Police went to a Norwich house to arrest Corwise on a New York warrant. Corwise tried to run but was caught by police who said he resisted arrest. Corwise had a loaded Springfield xD-45 handgun, a zip-lock bag containing nearly 60 grams of heroin, a small quantity of marijuana, a digital scale, five cellphones and other items, police said.
Locked up since his arrest, on Aug. 1 he pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
