Norwich Principal Appointed for Great Neck Elementary School Position

A Norwich principal was recently appointed as the new principal of Great Neck Elementary School in Waterford.

WATERFORD, CT - Billie Shea was appointed as principal of Great Neck Elementary School at the Waterford Board of Education meeting Thursday. She will officially begin this new role with Waterford on July 1, according to a release.

Shea will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Pat Fedor. She brings a multitude of professional experiences in education to this new position with Waterford. (To sign up for Norwich breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Shea holds a Sixth Year in Educational Leadership and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Sacred Heart University, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University
of Connecticut. She currently serves as the Principal of Stanton School in Norwich.

In that role, Ms. Shea has elevated the culture and climate of the school through an approach that includes shared leadership, collective decision making and a focus on teamwork. Prior to this role, she served
successfully as an Administrative Literacy Specialist, a K-8 Instructional Specialist, a Grade 6 Language
Arts Teacher, a Grade 5 Teacher, a Literacy Interventionist, and a Summer Academy
Administrator.

Preceding her profession in education, she had a very successful private sector career including roles as a writer/curriculum and staff development specialist, as well as being a co-owner of an information technology research company, where she specialized as a Market Analyst and Director of Research and Reporting.

Search committee officials offered congratulations to Shea, and said the committee is confident she will be a great addition to the staff, students and families of the Waterford Public Schools.

Shea is excited to join the Waterford team, and looks forward to bringing her passion and talent as
an educational leader to the Waterford school community.
