Norwich Woman Charged With Trafficking Cocaine, Sentenced To Prison

Court officials said a Norwich woman has been sentenced to prison for allegedly trafficking cocaine.

NORWICH, CT - Court officials said a Norwich woman has been sentenced to prison for allegedly trafficking cocaine. The suspect was sentenced Thursday to 12 months of imprisonment, followed by four years of supervised release, and was also ordered to forfeit $4,800.

According to court documents and statements made in court, Marybeth Harvey, 35, of Norwich had conspired with others to distribute cocaine in the summer of 2016, according to a release. An investigation into these allegations was subsequently prompted by the FBI Northern Connecticut Safe Streets Task Force, Norwich Police Department, Waterford Police Department and Groton Town Police.

Court officials said Harvey and other co-conspirators would receive the drug from a man who would drive to a supplier in the Bronx, New York, to obtain it. When he returned to Connecticut, the supplier provided the cocaine to Harvey and others for further distribution.

Court officials said Harvey was arrested on August 8, 2016. Officers also located approximately 23 grams of cocaine that day during a search of the suspect's residence.

Court officials said Harvey plead guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine on May 9.
