Norwich Woman Found Passed Out Behind Wheel Of Car With 3 Kids: Police

New London police said a Norwich woman was arrested after she was found passed out behind the wheel of a car containing three children.

NEW LONDON, CT - Police said a Norwich woman was arrested Thursday afternoon after she was found passed out behind the wheel of her car. Police said three children were located in the vehicle at the time.

Officers were dispatched to the area of 10 Spring Street in New London at approximately 4:51 p.m. after receiving reports of a woman passed out behind the wheel of a motor vehicle, police said. An infant and small child were also reported to be in the vehicle, police said. (To sign up for Norwich breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Police said officers located Cassidy Moniz, 26, of Norwich sitting in the driver's front seat of an idling vehicle, passed out and unresponsive to officers. Officers located and removed three children from the vehicle, police said.

The children ranged in ages from one to six years old, police said.

Fire personnel paramedics administered Narcan to the suspect, who soon became responsive, and was transported to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital for further treatment and evaluation, police said. The children were also transported to the hospital for precautionary observation and possible treatment.

Police said Moniz was charged with risk of injury to a minor and possession of marijuana. No other narcotics were located on scene, police said.

Police said more charges are expected pending toxicology and medical report analysis.
