Osten Named 'Legislator of the Year' by CT Police Chiefs Association
CT State Senator Cathy Osten was joined at the podium by retiring Norwich Police Chief Louis J. Fusaro, Sr. and his successor Patrick Daley.

State Senator Cathy Osten was honored by the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association which presented her with its “Legislator of the Year Award” at the organization’s Quarterly Meeting at the Stone Barn at Whitney Farms Golf Course in Monroe.
Carroll Hughs, who emceed the presentation, said the association’s legislative committee named Sen. Osten as the awardee for standing up for police officers across the state in her capacity as senate chair of the General Assembly’s Planning and Development Committee, calling her a “very strongly committed member of the legislature.”

Sen. Osten was joined at the podium by retiring longtime Norwich Police Chief Louis J. Fusaro, Sr. and his successor, Deputy Chief Patrick Daley, who will be sworn in as chief Friday.
While accepting her award, Sen. Osten thanked both Fusaro and Daley for their commitment to public safety in eastern Connecticut, and also thanked members of law enforcement throughout the state.

“This award means a great deal to me, because I cannot think of a more honorable profession than protecting the public and serving our communities, and I am proud to represent you and your interests at the capitol,” said Sen. Osten. “This is a significant honor, and I am grateful for it and the work you in law enforcement do each day for us across our great state.”
“For those who don’t know, Senator Osten is a former corrections officer and she’s used to pressure. She is unflinching when it comes to very difficult issues, especially in support of you,” Hughs told the room crowded with Connecticut’s top police officials. “Cathy has stood with us, and strongly so.”
The Connecticut Police Chiefs Association is an organization whose mission statement says that it is “dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of the residents of the State of Connecticut; to aiding other government bodies within and external to the State of Connecticut in the administration of justice, ensuring that all are treated equally before the law. To strive always to provide service to the public of the highest attainable quality by constantly searching for those methods that will keep Connecticut law enforcement in the forefront of public safety issues.”
