Police Explosives Unit Investigate Suspicious Item in Norwich: UPDATE
Police said an explosives unit was sent to investigate a suspicious item in Norwich.

NORWICH, CT - Norwich police said officers were dispatched onto Central Avenue between 12th and 13th street to investigate a suspicious item. An explosive unit was reported to be on the scene as well, police said.
The incident was reported at approximately 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday. Police said the item could have been a military mortar round. (To sign up for Norwich breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
After further investigation, police said officers determined there was no danger, and the item was not a military mortar round as reported. The item was subsequently removed and the scene was cleared, police said.
