The Orange native, a 2007 graduate of Amity Regional High School in Woodbridge, is also a 2011 graduate of West Point.

ORANGE, CT - Capt. Kristen M. Griest, an Orange native and one of two women to successfully complete U.S. Army Ranger School, has been chosen as the Army's first female infantry officer, reports Army Times.
Griest is scheduled to graduate tomorrow, April 28, from the Maneuver Captain's Career Course and will transfer from a position with military police to the infantry, according to an Army spokesperson.
Earlier this month, 22 women were approved to apply for infantry and armor positions, the Army announced.
NBC Connecticut News reports that Capt. Griest, 27, is a 2007 graduate of Amity Regional High School in Woodbridge, and earlier this year she was recognized by Connecticut Magazine for her accomplishments in the publication's "40 Under 40: Class of 2016" honors.
She is also a 2011 graduate of West Point.
