About Aiping Tai Chi Center
The Aiping Tai Chi Center was established in 1996 by Grandmaster Aiping Cheng, one of the world’s foremost authorities in Chinese Martial Arts. We are the only Chinese Martial Arts school in Connecticut with a curriculum developed by an 8th Duan tai chi master with expertise in both contemporary wushu and traditional tai chi. The instructors at the Aiping Tai Chi Center have been extensively trained by Grandmaster Aiping Cheng to teach tai chi using traditional teaching methods to provide students with the deepest understanding of tai chi. Our head instructors have all won multiple tai chi championships in national and international competitions. We currently teach group classes in Yang and Chen styles of tai chi, tai chi applications, and tai chi weapons. Individual private lessons are available upon request.
Tai Chi is one of the major internal styles of wushu (Chinese martial arts). As a martial art, all the movements of tai chi have combat applications. Over the centuries, people discovered that practicing tai chi had significant health benefits, lowering high blood pressure, reversing heart disease, alleviating arthritis, reducing stress and improving overall well-being. Recently published clinical studies have shown that practicing tai chi can boost the body’s immune system, decrease stress, alleviate osteoarthritis, decrease falls, and improve stamina and endurance.
