Composting In Orange: A Simple Way To Reduce Landfill Waste (theorangetimes.com) — Orange residents now have four new blue food-scrap compost bins at the Transfer Station, with a cleaner swap-out system run by Enviro Express. You can drop off a wide range of food scraps, including meat and dairy, to cut trash costs and support renewable energy production. Or Shalom to Host Yom Kippur Yizkor Memorial Service (orangetownnews.com) — Congregation Or Shalom in Orange will host a free community Yizkor memorial service on Yom Kippur, September 21, starting at 4 p.m. at 205 Old Grassy Hill Road. The egalitarian Conservative synagogue welcomes visitors from Orange and nearby towns, offering religious, educational, and social programs for all ages and inviting anyone seeking a place to remember loved ones.
   

3. Glassman Earns Master's Degree From UCA (orangetownnews.com) — An Orange resident, Jessica Glassman, has earned a Master of Science in Education in Literacy with Dyslexia Endorsement from the University of Central Arkansas. Her August 8 graduation was part of a ceremony conferring about 450 degrees across multiple colleges. Neighbors can take pride in a local student advancing specialized literacy education skills.
   

4. Connecticut court upholds state law, says no religious exemptions to school vaccine requirements (wtnh.com) — Orange parents who challenged Connecticut's elimination of religious exemptions for school vaccines have seen their case fully dismissed after a Stamford judge's latest ruling. The decision, following a 2024 state Supreme Court rejection of their constitutional claims, confirms students must meet immunization requirements without religious waivers. Local families must continue complying with the current vaccine law for school enrollment.
