• Law softball hires Leigh Barone as coach after her historic 10-year run at Masuk (greenwichtime.com) — A longtime Orange resident, championship softball coach Leigh Barone is returning to the dugout as the new head coach at Jonathan Law High School in Milford, after a record-setting decade at Masuk. Her move lets her stay closer to her young children in Orange while taking over an already-strong program that regularly contends for league and state titles.

• Connecticut firewood sellers see spike in orders as home heating oil prices soar (wtnh.com) — If you heat with oil in Orange, local firewood sellers say demand for wood is already so high that many are weeks behind on deliveries and could run out. With prices for heating oil and diesel driving up wood costs, Orange and Milford businesses urge residents to buy now or even stock green wood for next year, warning that switching to wood this winter may already be too late.
