• Oxford Fire Department Handles Record Number Of Calls (patch.com) — Oxford residents are seeing their fire department busier than ever, with a record 82 calls in July and more than 300 so far this year, prompting close budget scrutiny and planning for new equipment. Officials are also addressing facility issues, including water damage at the Center station and restoring a second rescue boat after an incident at Jackson Cove, while exploring grants for added security at town fire stations.
   

• Plans To Repair Flood-Damaged Oxford Trails To Be Unveiled (patch.com) — State officials are unveiling repair plans for two flood-damaged Larkin State Bridle Trail crossings in Oxford, with details on construction impacts and future storm resilience. Oxford and Southbury residents can join a public information session Tuesday evening at Southbury Town Hall or attend virtually to hear the proposed designs, timelines, and ask questions about how the work will affect local trail access.
   

• Connecticut just approved $1.9 billion in bonding. Here's what that covers (ctpost.com) — A massive $1.9 billion state bonding package includes money to replace a bridge at Kettletown State Park in Oxford and Southbury, addressing damage from the August 2024 flooding. The funding also covers school construction, transportation upgrades, housing programs, and improvements to parks, colleges, and local projects statewide, which could indirectly benefit Oxford residents through better infrastructure and services.
