The Friends of the Library in Oxford has recognized Haynes Group, a Seymour based company, for their support of the group's book sale activities over the past years. Due to limited space at the Oxford Public Library, the Friends are no longer able to collect and store large amounts of books at the library. Doing business locally as Haynes Materials, Haynes Development and Haynes Construction, the Haynes Group the current owners of Oxfordshire have allowed the friends to use their location over the past couple years to store and sort books in preparation for annual used book sales. An historic landmark located on Great Hill Road, Oxfordshire ("the Mansion") was the family homestead of Stephen B. Church for whom the Oxford Memorial Town Hall was named.
In appreciation of their continued assistance, the Friends presented Tom Haynes, co-owner of the company, with a commemorative plaque at a small ceremony held on November 13th at Oxfordshire. Participants in the ceremony were Hamilton Brosious (Friend member), Ed Gawitt (Friend Vice-President), Tom Haynes (Haynes Group) and Kathy Ekstrom (Haynes Development).
