Oxford Teen Valedictorian at Emmett O'Brien Tech

We are proud to announce that Tyler Lance of Oxford is the valedictorian at Emmett O'Brien Technical High School in Ansonia this year.

Tyler wanted to go to Emmett O'Brien four years ago because of the electronics program and is graduating this June. He has been accepted to three very nice colleges and is still thinking on where he wants to go.

He is very active and involved in many activities, including National Honor Society, Skills USA and as a volunteer for the American Red Cross. He has hosted two successful blood drives at his school, volunteering with food collections for the food  bank over  the holidays for a few years. He was also recently  involved  with the Robotics Club at Emmett O'Brien and Oliver Wolcott Tech High School of Torrington.

Tyler has held perfect attendance all throughout high school, as well as seventh and eighth grade. He was chosen last year for the Career Pathways Program and earned an internship to work at Sikorsky for the summers of 2010 and 2011.

Tyler would like to attend Worcester Poly Tech in Worcester, Mass., or Drexel University in Pennsylvania. As valedictorian at Emmett O'Brien, he has earned the Presidential Scholarship to UConn, Storrs.

He has been applying for scholarships when he learns of one in hopes of reaching his dreams. We are very, very proud of Tyler. He is a great young man, and I just want everyone to know how proud we are and wish him success in his future and always. We love you Tyler!
