Submitted by the town of Oxford:

Oxford First Selectman George Temple announced the town's plan to acknowledge Memorial
Day. There will be an automobile procession beginning at Little River Plaza 35 Old State Road
and ending at Oxford Town Hall 486 Oxford Road.

The procession will begin promptly at 11:00 a.m. Monday May 25th. We invite all veterans or citizens who want to show gratitude and respect for those men and women who gave so much for the freedom that we enjoy. The caravan will pause at Victory Memorial Park to allow a ceremony to recognize the sacrifice of our fallen heroes.

The procession will then proceed to town hall for a brief ceremony. We encourage all participants to decorate their cars in a patriotic theme. There will be no bands, fire trucks, military or marching units, only a group of people in cars who want to show gratitude for our real heroes. Social distancing will be required and we will follow all directions from the state relating to the current pandemic.

First Selectman George Temple said, “I could not let a year go by without acknowledging the
sacrifices made by our men and women in uniform. Our procession is a small expression of our
gratitude to live in such a great country and the sacrifice that was made to give us that gift.”
