Did Oxford Residents Pick Trump or Clinton for President?

Full election results and numbers were released for all races that Oxford residents voted on.

OXFORD, CT — On Election Night in Oxford residents preferred Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton by a margin of 4,685 to 2,398.

Clinton earned 32.6 percent of the vote in Oxford, Trump received 64 percent, while Gary Johnson earned 178 or 2.2 percent of the vote and Jill Stein received 64 votes or 1 percent.

In the race for U.S. Senate, Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., amassed on multiple lines 2,828 and 504 votes and his opponent Dan Carter, a Republican, received 3,735 votes. Blumenthal earned 46 percent of the vote and Carter 52 percent in Oxford, but statewide Blumenthal carried the state and won re-election.

For United States Congress, Incumbent Jim Himes, a Democrat, received 2,660 votes in Oxford and John Shaban, a Republican, earned 4,134 votes.

Shaban received 60 percent of the vote in Oxford, but Himes won re-election based on his vote totals in surrounding communities.

In Oxford, for the 32nd Senatorial District Democratic candidate Greg Cava received 1,852 and 175 votes on multiple voting lines, and Republican incumbent Robert J. Kane earned 4,577 votes. Kane has been a state senator since 2008 and was re-elected Tuesday. Cava is an attorney in Roxbury.

In the 131st State House District Democratic candidate Scott Flaherty earned 2,108 votes and the Republican incumbent David K. Labriola received 4,913 votes. Labriola is completing his seventh term and was re-elected Tuesday. Flaherty is a lifelong Oxford resident.
