Don't Expect a Tax Cut This Year Oxford Residents: Report
Town officials are currently working on both the municipal and schools budgets.

OXFORD, CT — Oxford residents don't expect another tax cut this year. First Selectman George R. Temple told the Republican-American recently that despite the town's growing tax base and money from the new power plant, he can't say it will all lead to another tax cut.
The current proposed municipal budget calls for a 6.5 percent spending hike or nearly $1 million more than the current $15.2 million spending plan. The school board is seeking $30.64 million budget, which also includes a 4.49 percent hike, the Rep-Am reports.
Reasons for the increase on the town side is attributed to paying off debt service and more funds are allocated for public safety including $65,000 for a new police officer position.
