Important Storm Update From Oxford First Selectman

A decision has been made concerning school on Monday. BREAKING

OXFORD, CT — First Selectman George Temple updated residents concerning the ongoing storm recovery efforts in town.

In a letter to residents, Temple wrote, "We are still making great progress, but I know that is no consolation for those of you who are still without power. We must put poles in the ground and that is very time consuming. We have 15 line crews and 16 tree crews from Eversource alone. Some of the crews came from Canada, Vermont, New Hampshire and Boston. Do not wear your Yankee gear around the Massachusetts crew because it may slow them up.

The current power restoration figures provided by Eversource are showing that we have 148 broken poles, 339 trees to be cleared, 23.438 miles of wires to be replaced, 42 transformers and 22 blocked roads. Anyone who text or called me regarding a power problem has been added to a list. All we can do now is have patience
