Here are the latest local updates on how the coronavirus outbreak is impacting Oxford:

OXFORD, CT — The new coronavirus outbreak in Connecticut and across the nation is having vast impacts in Oxford, including the closure of schools and many businesses.
The number of cases of the illness caused by the virus, known as COVID-19, continue to rise and additional measures and closures continue to be announced. The governor has declared a ‘Stay Safe, Stay Home’ program. All non-life-sustaining businesses in Connecticut have been closed.

Connecticut has 1,993 confirmed coronavirus cases as of Sunday. There have been 34 deaths and 404 hospitalizations. As of Sunday Oxford has had seven confirmed cases.

First Selectman George Temple signed a state of emergency declaration on March 16. Town hall has been closed since March 18 and all board and commission meetings have been canceled. Those in need of assistance for help with shopping or supplies can call the first selectman's office 203-888-2543 extension 3027.
The Pomperaug Health District continues to monitor the coronavirus situation in Oxford, Southbury and Woodbury.
"We can now assume community wide transmission of COVID-19 in CT," said Director of Health Neal Lustig in an update to the community. "A key public health goal is to minimize the number of people who get seriously ill at the same time. If too many people become very sick all at once, this will put an unmanageable burden on our healthcare system."
Schools
Oxford Public Schools will not reopen until at least April 20 per Gov. Ned Lamont's executive order. Students are distance learning.
Businesses
Lamont has issued a number of executive orders that have closed many business types. Restaurants can remain open, but can only offer takeout and delivery service.
