Monty married his best friend and first mate, Darlene, in 1991 at St. Joseph’s Church in Brookfield. They were the first couple to be married in the newly constructed church. They were happily married for 25 years.

Monty loved the water, travel, and adventure from an early age. As a teenager he built a kayak and hydroplane with his Dad. He took frequent wilderness kayak trips through Maine with his family and many motorcycle road trips with friends from his youth.

His summers were spent water skiing to Van Halen from “The Little Brother” ski boat off of Candlewood Isle, New Fairfield. Monty shared his love of sailing: as a sailing instructor for Club Med, racing on Restless, captaining the Mariah and Al Fin frequently to his precious Block Island, and Virgin Island bareboating with his adopted Brookfield friends. In 2008, he discovered the fun and magic at Roy Carpenter’s Beach in Rhode Island where he and Darlene enjoyed many summers at their beach house.

He was also an avid skier on the Ridgefield High School Ski Team and spent many wild seasons at the Killington Ski House both on and off the slopes before building his own ski house, The Cul de Shack, home base for skiing with family and friends.

Monty was a voracious reader and a curious and intuitive learner. He had a vast treasure of practical knowledge, which he drew from to create clever solutions and realize his diverse interests.

Monty truly lived life and had an affinity for mischief and exploration. He had the gift of inserting laughter into our lives. Monty collected friendships through all his experiences and held onto them dearly. He cherished his family and his many friends and valued EACH person for what they shared together. He loved, and was loved, deeply.

Monty was preceded in death by his mother Georgene, his brother Douglas, longtime family friend Nancy Keeler, his mother-in-law Liana Pat Nault and his brother-in-law George Nault.

Monty is survived by his spouse Darlene; his father Edward (Marge) Nebinger of New Fairfield; his sisters: Holly (Shaun) Murphy of Simsbury, Bonnie (Ted) Mengel of Stone Mountain, GA, Fawn Nebinger of Madison; sister-in-law Diane of Brookfield; and his many beloved nieces and nephews: Bethany (Blake), Bryn (Aaron), Eamonn, Niall (Kyle), Siobhan, Jason, Hunter, Tiffany, Lance Montgomery, Kara, Ian Montgomery, Mike, Chelsey, Joe, Christina, Gabrielle and Aryanna; and his grandnephews and grandniece: Wyatt Montgomery, Christian, and Savannah. He is also survived by his father-in-law Roger (Paula) Nault; brother-in-law Ron (Joanne) Nault and sister-in-laws Michelle (Tom) deBenedetto and Lisa Nault. He will also be missed by his spoiled beagles, Charli and Bud E.
