Oxford Boys Track Third in Class S

Parkin twins lead the team in the sprints.

The Oxford High School boys track team finished third at the Class S state championship on Thursday.

The team had several stellar performances; including first place finishes in both the 4x100 meter relay and the 4x400 meter relay.

The 4x400 team of seniors Kevin Parkin, Steven Parkin, sophomore Cameron Swift and junior Joe Greco took gold with a time of 3:29.28.

The 4x100 team was led by the Parkin twins who ran the third and fourth legs, freshman Ryan Flach and Greco, who ran the first and second legs, respectfully. The team finished with a time of 43.79.

Kevin Parkin finished second in the 100 meters with a time of 11.24, while Greco finished fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 52.19.

Senior David Ives finished fourth in the triple jump with a jump of 40-feet, 7-inches. He also finished 17th in the high jump, clearing 5-feet, 10-inches.

Junior Michael Morton finished eighth in the 800 with a time of 2:05.16.

And the 4x800-meter relay finished 10th with a time of 9:20.24. The relay team consisted of juniors Grandon Au and Lamar Munson and freshmen Thomas Baker and Ryan Flach.

The team finished with an overall score of 53 points for third behind first place Canton and second place Northwest Catholic.
