Old Sawmill Mini Golf Reopens In Oxford After Flood Damage

The Oxford business said a grand opening will be announced later.

OXFORD, CT — Old Sawmill Miniature Golf has reopened in Oxford after a long recovery from the devastating flooding that hit southwestern Connecticut in 2024.

The business announced a soft reopening Saturday, June 13, at 11 a.m., with plans for a future grand opening still being worked out.

The course is at 345 Oxford Road, also known as Route 67. The business said it is cash only and asked customers with questions to call its new phone number at 475-316-5846.

The reopening marks a major comeback for the longtime family business, which has been part of Oxford since 1994.

According to a GoFundMe organized after the flooding, Al and Linda Turcott opened the Olde Sawmill Miniature Golf Course and Grill as a retirement passion project. The fundraiser said the property was badly damaged during the Aug. 18, 2024 flooding, including the loss of the golf shack, damage to about half of the course and the destruction of the former restaurant building.

The fundraiser said the damage threatened the future of the seasonal business and was organized by Al Turcott’s daughter, Allison Blakeman, and his granddaughter, Brittany, to help with cleanup and recovery.

The business thanked supporters in its reopening announcement.

“Thank you to everyone who has followed along, supported us, and cheered us on throughout this entire stressful journey,” the business wrote.

Old Sawmill said the June 13 reopening was a soft reopening, with more details still to come for a grand opening.
