LETTER: Oxford BOE Chairman Amy Cote Seeks Support on Election Day

The following letter was written by BOE candidate Amy Cote.

Over the past 4 years, Oxford’s Board of Education has made great strides in filling the gaps in our district. You, as voters, said you wanted our district to move forward. It’s time, once again, for you to have an impact on the future of Oxford’s education and the direction it takes.

The candidates on Row A, Stephen Brown, Diane Soracco, and myself understand the importance of working collaboratively as a full Board and have demonstrated this numerous times through how we have operated as board members. We also understand Oxford’s desire to provide the best possible education for as many of our students as possible within the constraints of our wallets and purses.

We facilitated discussions and made decisions regarding special education needs, fine arts programs, long range facilities improvements, CCSS and the impact it will have on the district curriculum wise as well as financially. We have taken the time to understand where the district is and where it needs to go.

Above all, our foremost thought when making decisions is “STUDENTS FIRST”. Moving forward, we will work to continue to improve communication through technology and community discussion groups. We will seek to improve educational outcomes for all students. We have developed a plan for replacing Center School and we will see that through. We will work with the superintendent to put structures in place to not only retain quality staff, but also to recruit those of the highest caliber when vacancies arise. We will continue to sustain fiscal efficiency by looking at a variety of ways to fund our programmatic needs.

For all of these reasons, I ask that you support Steve, Diane and myself by voting for Row A, the “CBS” team, on November 3rd . Let your voice to be heard again.
