Team to play in third round of the state tournament Wednesday night.
The Oxford 12-year-old Babe Ruth All Star team will play Wednesday night in the third round of the state tournament. The game was supposed to be held tonight but was postponed. It will be held at 5:30 p.m. at Seaside Park in Bridgeport, field No. 9.
The team has been on a roll, winning its first two games of the tourney in blow out victories. The following is a recap of the two games.
In a 12-2 victory over New Canaan, a game that was stopped before the end of regulation due to a run rule, Will Richter had a dominating pitching performance, striking out 10 batters in four innings.

Matt Gramesty closed the game in the fifth inning on the mound.
Cole Chudoba had three runs batted in on three hits and Jeet Rosa also had three hits. Tim McInerney had two runs batted in on two hits while Matt Gramesty and Jared Keller had two hits apiece.

Jason DeNigris, Tommy Davis and Jimmy Husar hit safely for Oxford.
The team also won its second game 18-0 in four innings over Bridgeport on Saturday.
Jason DeNigris, Cole Chudoba and Jeet Rosa combined on the mound for a no hitter.
At the plate, Chudoba, Rosa, Tim McInerney, Jared Keller and Matt Gramesty contributed two hits apiece. Jason DeNigris and Jimmy Husar each had three runs batted in on three hits apiece while Will Richter also had three hits.
Tommy Davis also had a hit. Oxford had three home runs in the game by Chudoba, DeNigris and Rosa.
