Nearly 700 people voted Thursday concerning the budget referendum.

OXFORD, CT – When you're voting on a budget that includes a nearly 10 percent tax cut, the choice seems pretty obvious and that's what happened as Oxford residents approved their town budget for next year by a tally of 595 to 86, reports the Republican-American. The school budget also was approved by a 550 to 132 margin.
The $47.6 million combined schools and municipal budget included a $1.45 million increase in spending on the town side and a nearly $530,000 hike on the school side.
Residents also approved a road improvement project and $2.3 million for capital projects including school upgrades and essential town vehicles including a new ambulance, plow truck and police car, the Rep-Am reports.
