Oxford 2019 Budget Referendum Details
Residents will head to the polls to vote on a budget that includes a tax hike.

OXFORD, CT — Residents will vote from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 16 on whether to approve a $48.95 million budget for fiscal 19-20, which increases spending by about 3 percent and includes a tax increase, the New Haven Register reports.
The referendum will be held at Quaker Farms School. The tax rate is expected to increase by less than one mill. A big chunk of the increase is a result of $750,000 for road projects, the Register reports.
At the annual Town Meeting held last week, First Selectman George Temple said he supports the budget although "not 100 percent happy but it is workable. Strong desire to support the school security upgrade and this is the increase in the mill rate, also state aide is down. The budget makes a lot of sense..."
