Update: Oxford All Stars Win State Tournament; Seek Donations for Regional Trip

The Oxford baseball 12-year-old team wins the championship.

The Oxford 12-year-old baseball Babe Ruth team won the state championship this week. Here is a look at how they accomplished it from the coach.

Oxford beat New Milford Wednesday night 16 – 2 in 3.5 innings:

  • Will Richter pitched another great game allowing no runs in 3 innings
  • Cole Chudoba pitched the final inning to close out the game

  • Jim Husar had 3 hits and 2 RBI
  • Will Richter (2 RBI), Jared Keller (2 RBI) and Matt Gramesty all had 2 hits apiece
  • Also hitting safely for Oxford were Cole Chudoba (2 RBI) and Jeet Rosa (2 RBI)

Oxford beat New Milford in the Finals 14 – 7 to capture the State Championship on Friday night

  • Jason DeNigris pitched 4 strong innings
  • Will Richter pitched 2 innings of shutout ball to pick up the save

  • Jason DeNigris had 4 hits - with 1 HR
  • Cole Chudoba (2 RBI) and Joey Romagna provided 3 hits apiece
  • Jim Husar, Jeet Rosa (3 RBI) and Matt Gramesty (2 RBI) had 2 hits apiece
  • Also hitting safely for Oxford was Tim McInerney with one hit

The team will ow play in the Regional Tournament in Marlborough, Mass., on Saturday, July 23, at 12:30 p.m. against Rhode Island. To help pay for expenses for the week long tournament, we will be having the following events to raise money for the team: 

  • Today the team is “shaking the can” at the following locations:
  • Dunkin Donuts in Oxford until 2 p.m.
  • Starbucks in Seymour until 2 p.m.
  • Sikorsky Federal Credit Union in Oxford until 2 p.m.
  • Stop & Shop in Seymour until 2 p.m.

 

  • On Tuesday night, July 19, we will have “movie night” at Posy Panko baseball field in Oxford. We will start the festivities at 6:30 p.m. – with food, games, raffles and the movie to start around 8:30 p.m.
  • On Wednesday night, July 20, we will have dinner at Antonio’s Restaurant on Main Street in Ansonia. There will be two seatings at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., with 20 percent of the revenue from those two seatings going to the team.
