The Wolverines waited until the last game of the season a year ago to win its first game of the season. This year's crop of Wolverines got that first win in the second game of the season at home on Monday night.
Behind 19 points by center and 17 points by guard Tyler Gruttadauria, the Wolverines sailed to a 63-49 victory over Lewis Mills (Litchfield County).
Head Coach Al Tolomeo said his team is hungry for victories this season.

"I'll tell you one thing: we may have some games where we don't play as well as we want to, but we will never be outworked," he said.
That's what the Wolverines did Monday night. Instead of settling for jump shots the way last year's team did many times, Oxford worked the ball inside and took it to the basket for higher percentage shots.

Oxford improves to 1-1 on the season. The team plays at in Easton on Wednesday night.
Tolomeo would only give one prediction for the season.
"We will always give a great effort," he said.
