Oxford Boys, Girls Soccer Teams Defeat Stratford

Teams are victorious on Monday.

Melanie Cianciola scored the only goal in a 1-0 win for the Oxford Wolverines girls’ soccer team over Stratford high school on Monday.

The goal was unassisted. Goalkeeper Audry Pratt had 16 saves for Oxford. Goalkeeper Gretchen Panzak had 15 saves for Stratford.

Oxford improves to 3-11 on the season while Stratford drops to 1-12. Oxford’s next game is senior day at 3:45 p.m. against Newtown at Oxford.

The Oxford boys’ soccer team beat Stratford 5-0 on Monday.

Michael Morton led Oxford with two goals, which were assisted by Bryan Baker and Ryan Flach. Rodorigo Sanchez also scored a goal assisted by Thomas Baker. And Morton repaid Bryan Baker by assisting Baker on a goal.

Chris Faber scored Oxford’s final goal, which was assisted by Keith O’Hara.

Oxford outshot its opponent 19 to 4. The Wolverines improve to 5-7. The next game is today at home against Brookfield at 3:45 p.m.

Oxord has games left against Brookfield, Newtown, Masuk and Bullard Havens. Senior day will be Monday, Oct. 24, at 3:45 p.m. at home.
