Oxford Girls Basketball Advances in Tournament

Girls beat up on Bullard Havens to advance to second round.

The Oxford High School girls basketball team improved its record to 2-3 and advanced to the second round of the Stratford Holiday Invitational with a dominating win over Bullard Havens on Thursday.

Behind double-doubles from Kelsey Svenson (14 points, 12 rebounds) and Taylor Drayton (13 pts., 13 rebs.), as well as a game high 19 points from Jordyn Tolomeo, the girls cruised to a 60-31 victory, according to the Waterbury Republican-American.

The girls jumped out to an early lead, scoring 22 points in the first quarter compared to just 12 for Bullard Havens. The early lead was too much for Bullard Havens to overcome, and Oxford slammed the door shut with a dominating third quarter in which it outscored Bullard Havens 21 to 3.
