Oxford Girls Fight Hard, Come Up Short

Wolverines drop game to Kolbe Cathedral.

The girls basketball team showed some grit down the stretch in an aggressive game against Kolbe Cathedral of Bridgeport.

The Wolverines lost the game 50-40 at home on Tuesday but fought hard toward the end to avoid a much larger defict. Oxford outscored Kolbe 21-11 in the fourth quarter behind aggressive offense by post players Taylor Drayton and Rhiannon Bacik.

Drayton led Oxford with 19 points while Bacik dropped 11. Drayton scored 11 points in the fourth quarter while Bacik had six points in the final period to lead Oxford. Oxford's top scorer of the season, guard Jordyn Tolomeo, was held to six points by a solid defense that wouldn't allow her to get off an uncontested outside shot. Forward Sam Orner scored Oxford's four other points.
