Oxford Girls Cross Country Wins State Title
The team takes first at the Class SS championships.
The Oxford High School girls cross country team won the CIAC Class SS State cross country title Tuesday at Hammonassett State Park in Madison.
The feat marks the first CIAC state title for Oxford HS.
There were 28 teams in the meet. Caylee Richardson came in 4th with a time of 20:08 over the 5k course. Marcea Stilson was 5th, 20:16, Skyler Werner 8th, 20:24, and Stephanie Vitka 10th, 20:41. Richardson, Stilson, Werner, and Vitka earned All-State Class SS honors with their top 10 finishes.

Marcea Stilson has been All State for 3 years in a row now and Skyler Werner and Stephanie Vitka have been All-State for 2 years in cross-country.
Sara Ponce came in 32nd, 22:07, Brianna Hoffner 33rd 22;08 and Giovanna McMahon 59th, 23:36. Six of the seven girls that ran set personal bests over the 5k distance. The girls team beat 6 time Class SS champion Giswold by 9 points.
