Oxford Girls Track Beats Stratford, Loses to Masuk, Joel Barlow

Team is now 3-8 on the season.

The Oxford girls track team beat Stratford 87.5 to 46.5, but lost to Masuk 56.5 to 85.5 and Joel Barlow 29-121 Tuesday at Bunnell High School. Oxford's record is now 3-8.

Oxford's results from Tuesday:

Sara Ponce won the 3,200 meter run in a time of 12:44, Caylee Richardson 12:55 and Olivia Richter 13:01 came in second and third overall.

Amy Persson won the high jump with a school record of 5-feet, 2-inches. Taylor Drayton won the discus with a throw of 104-feet, 1-inch.

  • The 4x800 meter relay team of Marcea Stilson, Caylee Richardson, Johanna D'Ambruoso and Olivia Richter set a school record with a  time of 10:45.59.
  • Taylor Drayton came in third in the javelin with a throw  94-feet and 4.5-inches, and third in the shot put with a throw of 30 feet.
  • Marcea Stilson came in third in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:35 and tied the school record in that event. She also came in second in the 1,600 with a time of 5:44.
  • Caylee Richardson came in fourth in the 1,600 with a time of 5:55.
  • Corrinn Niski came in fourth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 53.2 and qualifed for the SWC and Class S Championships
  • Amy Persson came in sixth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 55.2
  • Shelby Burnett came in fourth in the high jump with a jump of 4-feet, 6-inches.
  • Hannah VanBuiten qualified for the SWC and Class S Championships in the 100 meter sprint with a time of 13.5 seconds.

 Oxford's next meet is Friday at The Lady Titan Relays at Sheehan High School in Wallingford at 5 p.m.
