Oxford Girls Track Drops Close One to New Fairfield in Tri-Meet

Team loses to Pomperaug, New Fairfield and Newtown.

Oxford lost to Pomperaug 110-36, Newtown 107-35 and New Fairfield 74-72 at Pomperaug HS on Tuesday. Oxford’s record is now 2-6.

Oxford's results are as follows:

  • The 4x800 meter relay team of Marcea Stilson, Caylee Richardson, Johanna D'Ambruoso and Brianna Hoffner set a school record with a time of 10:48.3.
  • Taylor Drayton won the Discus with a thow of 93'10 and Shot Put with a thow of 31'9 1/2"
  • Shelby Burnett 3rd in 100 m 13.6, 5th 200m 28.7
  • Marcea Stilson 3rd in 1600 m 5:50, 5th in 800 m 2:39
  • Sara Ponce 6th in 1600 m 6:00, 3rd in 3200 m 12:46
  • Hannah VanBuiten 6th in 100 m 14.0
  • Amy Persson 6th in 300 Hurdles 54.1, 2nd in High Jump 4'8
  • Julia Carloni 5th in Shot Put
  • Hannah VanBuiten, Amy Persson, Johanna D'Ambruoso and Corinn Niski qualifed for the SWC Championships and Class S Championships in the 4x400 with a time of 4:35.
  • Shelby Burnett qualifed in the 200 m, and Caylee Richardson 13:06, Olivia Richter 13:02 both qualifed for the 3,200 m run as well.

On a sad note, Oxford has lost Long and Triple Jumper Stephanie Romanowski for the year with a torn ACL suffered in the last meet at Brookfield.
