Oxford Girls Track Fares Well at State Open Meet
Team finishes in 49th place, two girls finish in the top 10.
The girls track team finished 49th at the Connecticut State Open track meet on Monday. It was the best finish in the short history of the girls program.
The team finished the second highest of all South West Conference teams; New Milford was the only SWC team that finished higher than Oxford.
For Oxford, Amy Persson finished in eighth place in the high jump with a jump of 5 feet. Taylor Drayton finished in eighth-place in the shot put with a throw of 36-feet, 9.25-inches, which set a new school record. Drayton also finished 21st in the javelin with a throw of 96-feet, 4-inches and seventh in the discus with a throw of 110-feet, 5-inches. The throw set a new school record.

Drayton's seventh place finish and Persson's eighth-place finish were the highest ever finishes for on OHS girl at the State Open. This season 36 school records were set, according to Coach Ed Lucas. Oxford's season is now complete.
