Oxford High Volleyball Now 5-1 on the Season

The Oxford High School volleyball team defeated Joel Barlow and Wolcott Tech this week. Here are the stats from both games:

Oxford defeats Joel Barlow in three games: 25-13, 25-20, 25-15

Jason Mraz with 9 Kills, 4 Blocks
Rob Costigan with 14 Kills, 3 Blocks
Pat Cragan with 20 Assists

Oxford defeats Wolcott Tech: 3-1 on Tuesday: 22-25, 25-15, 25-23,25-20

Standout performances:

Pat Cragan with 48 Assists, 17 Digs
Rob Costigan with 37 Kills, 7 Digs
Nick Greenhouse and Ed Carver with a combined 42 Digs

Worth Noting: As of this Thursday, Costigan was leading the state in hitting, blocks and kills, according to Max Preps. The site says Jason Mraz was second in hitting and tied with Costigan in blocks. Setter Pat Cragen was leading the state in assists with 203. Ed Carver, the libero, was leading the state with digs.

Costigan has 173 hit attempts and 130 kills. He’s hitting the ball at 65.9 percent; his kill percentage is 75.1 percent.

Mraz has 83 hit attempts, 54 kills and is killing the ball at a 54.2 percent average.

Costigan and Mraz both have 24 blocks and Carver has 74 digs.
