Oxford Honors Civic Leaders Who Help Make The Town Special
"It is a pleasure to honor these two outstanding citizens as they reflect the value and dedication that makes our town so great."

OXFORD, CT — The Seymour/Oxford Rotary Club held their annual Community Civic Service Award ceremony on Monday evening at the Brookside Inn Restaurant in Oxford. This award is given to recognize the meritorious service of an employee, volunteer or First Responder of the Town of Oxford and Seymour. The nominees are selected by the First Selectmen.
First Lieutenant Mark Krassner, was chosen by First Selectman Temple for his hard work and dedication as an employee. Mark wears many hats here in town. He is First Lieutenant of Oxford Center Fire Department, Deputy Fire Marshall and he helps plow our roads in the winter. Mr. Krassner organizes an annual poster contest at Oxford Center School for fire prevention. “This is very important and comes at a time when just this past weekend we lost a family to a horrific fire. Witnessing the fire made me think about Mark and his focus on educating kids. The poster contest is not only fun for the kids, it helps to get conversations started in the home about fire prevention”, Temple said.
Deborah Sherman was chosen for her volunteer services to the Oxford community. Ms. Sherman has been involved in the Oxford PTO, Oxford Booster Club, Flag Football and the Board of Education. “All this may sound like just something that mom’s do, but it doesn't matter if her kids were involved or not, she loves kids.” Temple stated. Debbie is also a member on the Community Support Committee. This is a committee that was put together to determine how the annual donation of $50,000.00 from CPV Towantic Energy will be spent.
