So close.
That may be the most fitting way to sum up the efforts of Oxford's boys basketball team, which came oh so close to securing its first victory of the season Thursday night in neighboring Beacon Falls. In a hard fought battle, the Wolverines, who trailed by just two points with a minute left, fell short to neighboring Woodland High School in a 51-45 nail biter.
Oxford was led by Seth Calvanese's 12 points. Shaq Squires and JT Van Kamerik added nine apiece. The Wolverines fell to 0-16.
