Oxford Man Arrested For Theft, Could Be Linked to Several Others, Police Say

Man has an extensive arrest record from the past year.

An Oxford man has been arrested for stealing scrap metal from a home on Donovan Road, and he may be linked to other area burglaries, police said.

A woman noticed Kevin Tirita, 25, of Oxford, in her driveway recently and gave police a description of the man she saw, according to a police report. Officer Gary Soules investigated and questioned Tirita, who admitted to the thefts, police said. He is now a person of interest in several other thefts in Oxford, including break-ins to cars and possibly homes, Resident Trooper Sgt. Dan Semosky said.

It was unclear how much the scrap metal Tirita is said to have stolen is worth. He has been charged with third-degree larceny and criminal mischief for the Oxford incidents. He has pleaded not guilty and his case has been continued to March 2.

Tirita has pending cases for several other thefts, including for sixth-degree larceny and issuing a bad check from an arrest in Waterbury – he was arrested there last week, according to state records. He was also arrested in New Haven last week for fifth-degree larceny and issuing a bad check.

And in July, Tirita was arrested in Wallingford for fifth-degree larceny, according to state records, which show he has no prior convictions.
