Gellatly pleaded guilty to murder and attempted murder. The Gellatlys’ twins, who were 18 months old at the time, were present but not injured during the shootings, the Hartford Courant reports.

After the guilty plea earlier this summer, Jackson, 64, said “I would have loved to hear “life” or, to tell you the truth, I would like the death penalty but it’s not possible,” Jackson, said according to the Hartford Courant’s Alaine Griffin. “I feel that this is a life sentence for him. He’s not gonna have a good life and he doesn’t deserve one. I mean, he took an angel that day and he tried to kill me.”

Prior to the shootings, Lori Gellatly filed for a temporary restraining order from her husband, and police at the time said he forced his way into the house, shot his wife and her mother, and fled, but was apprehended after a brief manhunt, Fox Ct reports.
