Oxford Native Rachele Fico Throwing Strong at LSU

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - Rachele Fico fired 4.2 innings of two-hit relief with nine strikeouts, but No. 3 Arizona emerged with a 4-1 victory over the No. 20 Louisiana State University softball team Friday at the Big League Dreams Complex.

Fico retired 13 of the final 15 hitters en route to her nine Ks. The Oxford, Conn., product held the potent Arizona offense to an infield single and a walk down the stretch.

Fico dominated on the mound at Masuk High School in Monroe and is now en route to do the same at LSU, one of the premier Division 1 softball programs in the nation. She went 20-7 with a South East Conference leading 1.15 Earned Run Average over 41 appearances last year and was named SEC Conference Rookie of the Year.
