Oxford Officials Meet To Discuss Coronavirus Plan

The group met to decide the various roles officials will play if there is an outbreak of the coronavirus locally.

OXFORD, CT — The Town of Oxford has established an incident command system to handle the new coronavirus public health threat.

Town officials urged residents to stay at home if they feel sick and to practice good hygiene including washing hands.

The members of the command system include school Superintendent Dr. Jason McKinnon, Assistant Superintendent Robert Miller of the Oxford Board of Education, First Selectman George Temple, Administrative Assistant, Kristyn Rosa , Fire Chief Scott Pelletier, Resident Trooper Sgt. Robert Boroski, Oxford Ambulance Director Madelene Taggart and Neil Lustig Pomperaug Health Director.

One concern the group had was over ambulance transportation. The group urges residents to only use ambulance services in emergency situations.

The new coronavirus also known as COVID-19 is caused by a member of the coronavirus family that’s a close cousin to the SARS and MERS viruses that have caused outbreaks in the past.
